The Oregon Zoo presented a fun-filled evening of fine dining and entertainment on Saturday, July 17, 2010. Chef John and Newmans at 988 were featured alongside the region’s top restaurants, bakeries, breweries and wineries. Proceeds from the event went to benefit the Zoo to You youth outreach program.

On Sunday, May 23, Chef John joined other local chefs for Chef’s Night Out. An annual fundraiser for the Cannon Beach Children’s Center hosted by the Surfsand Resort, this annual event was a major success.

Chef John Newman was the featured chef for the March 13 Steamboat Inn Guest Chef and Winemakers Dinner in Steamboat, Oregon. Appetizers included garlic polenta, mushroom caps & asiago cheese, and Chef John’s famous crab cakes. Dinner courses featured King Fisher Farms Organic Salad Greens, Lobster Ravioli, Rack of Lamb, and Poached Pear for dessert.
